Info about using my photos on your personal CD's or tapes

Having been to far more than 300 shows in my time, I understand your wish to have good photos to
accompany the magical musing of the Grateful Dead. I was a taper myself in the early days.

Anything you can take off my site is yours. Enjoy the web resolution files as they are.
If you use any of my photos on your personal site, or any web presence,
please be kind and provide photo credit plus a link back to me :)

It's interesting how the digital age has made any creative work part of all media content.
This means all of what we do becomes almost valueless due to the ease of acquisition.
In the old days we would get together in person, and become good friends,
while trading Dead show experiance on analog tape.
We'd drink some great beer, hang out, and if in New Haven,
go to Pepe's for pizza while one side of a 45 min tape spun.
Then, after filling up on the best pizza in the known universe, do a slide show of photos
that would be the one, or closely match, that show we are dubbing that night.
(slide shows: only during the second set)

Photographers have always made our living selling our creations.
Now, The Dead, they always sold tickets to their concerts, but gave the music away,
for us to take with us when we leave the show. And continue to.
That is a wonderful business model !
They also sell other merchandise, which they have either contracted to have created,
or licensed to outside vendors.
This process has supported excellent lively hoods for the people in the business.
But my work is not a part of that process.
I own my creative works in all its forms. There are no derivatives.
I'm only trying to get the word out that I have these photos and I wish to share them.
At an appropriate price, based on fine art photography rates,
it's like selling a ticket to a show you can be at for as long and as large as you wish to be there.

My love to all who have been there with me on this trip, to all my friends,
old and new, those I have yet to meet, and to all who are gone from this earth ..
To everyone who loves the Grateful Dead, Jim
